Engineering Light-Therapy Glasses That Look Like Ordinary Eyewear
The challenge
A consumer wellness startup wanted to make morning light therapy part of an everyday routine. The glasses had to deliver the right kind of light to the eyes while looking and feeling like normal eyewear, and the design had to avoid a crowded field of existing patents. The founder also needed working prototypes to show investors.
What we did
We reviewed existing approaches and chose an architecture that delivers diffused, indirect light from within the frame. We designed compact electronics, routing and power to fit a conventional frame shape, and wrote low-power firmware with one-button control and automatic session timing. A custom measurement toolchain let us check the light's spectrum and intensity at the eye rather than rely on estimates, and we tested surface temperatures during use. The frame and diffusers went through several rounds of rapid prototyping. See our wearable technology service.
The result
We delivered integrated, working prototypes with optical validation reports and a complete engineering handoff covering mechanical, electrical and firmware design files.
